Packaging printing proofing is a process that connects pre press production and printing, allowing users to anticipate the final printed product effect before printing. At present, there are three commonly used proofing methods in the gravure printing industry: soft proofing, traditional proofing, and digital proofing.
1. Soft sampling
Soft proofing is implemented on color displays and is undoubtedly the most convenient, fast, and inexpensive sampling method. It requires high accuracy and correct calibration of color displays. The obvious shortcomings of the soft sampling method are: low resolution, only 72 dpi; The accuracy of colors depends on the performance and calibration of the display; It is not possible to provide a reference hard copy for the subsequent printing process.
2. Traditional sampling
There are two commonly used traditional gravure printing sampling methods. One is gravure printing, which produces accurate color and high reference value. However, this sampling method requires processes such as grinding, electroengraving, electroplating, etc. It requires high processing accuracy of the printing plate cylinder, high electroplating cost, and complex process. Therefore, the production cost of this sampling method is high, and the cycle is relatively long, which takes at least one day.
Another method is offset printing proofing, which requires outputting film and printing, and then completing the proofing on the offset printing proofing machine. Although this method can reduce some of the production costs, there are significant differences in the proofing effect due to the different processes of offset printing and gravure printing, such as insufficient density and equal color levels.
